Vikings vs Bears – CJ’s Take:

The Vikings were 5-0 and supposedly have a lot of information at their disposal about the Eagles, courtesy of their new quarterback, Sam Bradford, who had been part of training camp until he was traded shortly before the start of the regular season. But a lot of good that did them – they allowed six sacks of Bradford and did not get a touchdown on the board until the outcome was no longer in doubt.

The Bears have just one straight-up victory this season, and the experienced another big blow last week against the Green Bay Packers. Brian Hoyer suffered a broken forearm and is not available to this team any longer. But that opens up the door for the return of Jay Cutler, who had been sitting with a thumb injury. And that might be a good thing for the Bears, because Matt Barkley was not much of an alternative.

When Cutler went down with his injury, he had been sacked eight times and attempted only 46 passes, with two interceptions. So he wasn’t doing very well. Hoyer has at least put up very credible numbers; he completed 67% of his passes, threw 200 times and was sacked only four times, with no interceptions. Right now, Chicago is the lowest scoring team in the NFL, averaging just 15.9 points per game.

The Vikings have struggled putting together a running game, and they at least had something serviceable last week, as Matt Asiata and Jerod McKinnon combined for 98 yards. And there was a bright spot with the defensive unit, which allowed Philadelphia and rookie quarterback Carson Wentz only 239 total yards.

Another thing that VietBet patrons can point to is the fact that the Vikings are at +11 in turnover ratio, and that is the best figure in the league. Sure, the Bears were respectable in that area, but that was mostly with Hoyer throwing the ball. With Cutler, it’s anybody’s guess as to how that will turn out.

Chicago’s running game has got a little bit of a boost with rookie Jordan Howard, who has averaged 4.8 yards per carry. But they had injuries to their Pro Bowl guards, Kyle Long and Josh Sitton, and this could be a very pedestrian offensive line going up against the Minnesota pass rush, which has registered 19 sacks and forced nine interceptions.

Next Up for both teams:

  • Minnesota home to Detroit Sunday, November 6
  • Chicago at Tampa Bay Sunday, November 13
