Miami Dolphins vs Buffalo Bills December 24th, 2016 Week 16 NFL Betting PreviewWell, it looks as if the Miami Dolphins, as many people expected, were not hurt all that much by the absence of Ryan Tannehill in the game against the New York Jets, as Matt Moore, the veteran backup, threw four touchdown passes, with Miami winning by 21 points. They have now won eight of their last nine games, and if they win their final two, they will have guaranteed themselves a wild-card spot in the AFC. Miami Dolphins vs Buffalo Bills – CJ’s Take:

Yes, the Dolphins have to play the New England Patriots in the final game of the season, and we are not sure whether the Pats will have sewn up home-field advantage in the playoffs by that time are not. But it is at home, and probably something they can win. But they have to take care of business first against Buffalo, which is a dangerous opponent in that the Bills are feeling the pressure of the possibility of another coaching change. Ownership was not shy about the fact that this was more or less playoffs-or-bust this season, and that means that Rex Ryan could walk the plank if Buffalo does not win its two remaining games, against Miami and the Jets, and make their way into the wild-card themselves.

Currently, the Dolphins are 9-5 straight-up and 8-6 ATS, while the Bills are 7-7, both straight-up and against the NFL pointspread.

Buffalo had a bit of a breather last week as it beat Cleveland, the only winless team in the NFL, by a 33-13 score. They bullied the hapless Browns for 280 yards on the ground, and they are currently the NFL’s best rushing team, averaging a bloated 5.5 yards per carry. That is also the average of Shady McCoy, who has just been named into the Pro Bowl. And there is a pretty good possibility he could do some business against this Miami defensive front, which has allowed 4.8 yards per rushing attempt.

But it would be nice if the Bills could move the ball through the air as well. Tyrod Taylor, who will have some contract issues to talk about at the end of the season, whenever that is, had 49 yards on the ground last week, but his numbers are in no way explosive, as he has just 14 touchdown passes, to go along with 40 sacks. Of course, Buffalo has run the ball well enough so that they don’t have to rely on an air attack, and VietBet patrons may have heard a lot of talk about offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn being a prime candidate for head-coaching job somewhere.

On defense, the Bills would like to be able to slow the Miami ground attack down. Jay Ajayi has been slowed up plenty in his last four games, totaling only 204 yards, but he had more than that in the previous meeting against Buffalo, rambling for 214 in the 28-25 Dolphin victory at Hard Rock Stadium. The Miami offensive line is sort of healthy; by that we mean the left side is intact, but center Mike Pouncey is out. Moore completed 15 of his 23 passes for 282 yards last week, but he’ll have to deal with a better pass rush here. Buffalo has chalked up 38 quarterback sacks on the season.
