Lions vs Bears October 2nd, 2016 – Week 4 NFL Betting Preview

Lions vs Bears October 2nd, 2016 Week 4 NFL Betting PreviewThe Chicago Bears have looked dead in the last two weeks, and you have to wonder if there’s any relief in sight. What has been most humiliating about this is the fact that they have faced two rookie quarterbacks in the last two games, and were not able to stop either one of them. Now they will go up against a veteran, and a good one, as they encounter Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions in an NFC North matchup that is scheduled to begin at 1 PM Eastern time on Sunday at Soldier Field. VietBet customers have an advantage, in that they do not have to stop their action at the opening kickoff; instead, they can continue wagering as they utilize the considerable facilities laid out by Live Betting Ultra.

Lions vs Bears – CJ’s Take:

As we write this, the status of Jay Cutler is somewhat up in the air, but we would venture to say that he will not be under center for this game. He injured his thumb in the season opener against the Houston Texans and then aggravated it against the Philadelphia Eagles in the second week. It then put him out against the Cowboys last week, and he had to be replaced by Brian Hoyer. In the 31-17 loss to Dallas, Hoyer threw for 317 yards and two touchdowns. But to be realistic about it, the outcome was really no longer in doubt when he put up most of his numbers.

The Lions got jumped on early by the Green Bay Packers last week, going down 31-10 at the half, but then came on and scored some points of their own, actually putting themselves back in the game, before losing 34-27 at Lambeau Field.

Certainly, the Bears don’t seem to fit the profile of the kind of team that is either going to get out to a huge lead over the Lions, one that has the capacity to come back from a big deficit, like the Indianapolis Colts did. When you talk about the Lions you have to start with offense, and ever since Jim Bob Cooter became the coordinator, this team has shown a lot of life in that area. They continue even without Calvin Johnson, the future Hall of Fame wide receiver who retired in the off-season.

Marvin Jones, who was acquired as a free agent and who played with the Cincinnati Bengals last season, had 205 receiving yards last week on the other end of Stafford’s throws. And Stafford, who has thrived under Cooter, wound up with 385 yards passing as this team kept swinging all the way to the end.

That’s what VietBet patrons have to consider here; Detroit seems to be the kind of team that will always have the capacity to put some points on the board, even if they don’t have a running game. Meanwhile, Chicago has scored 45 points in three games and they are struggling to put together a ground game of their own. Head coach John Fox has been noncommittal about what Cutler status is going to be, even if he is declared healthy. This team could actually benefit in terms of the salary cap if it releases Cutler after the season is over. And he just doesn’t seem to be the quarterback of the future; not at age 33.

Hoyer does not fit that description either, so it will require some soul-searching on the part of this club when all is said and done. We’re not trying to write the obituary for the Bears just yet, but it’s just as if we can’t necessarily see some light at the end of the tunnel. The Bears have lost eleven out of their last 12 home games, and for what it’s worth, they are 1-11 ATS at home against an opponent that is coming off a straight-up loss. The Lions certainly fit that description.
