There is no more appropriate way to describe the opening-game performance of the Indianapolis Colts than to say it was disappointing. But now Andrew Luck has to rebound in time to play against a rough-and-tumble New York Jets defense in the Monday night football game that begins at 8:30 PM ET at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Jets, on the other hand, may be bringing some momentum into this contest, based on the 31-10 win over the Cleveland Browns, in which Ryan Fitzpatrick did not have a banner day but also did not suffer a sack. Indianapolis, which did not sacked Buffalo quarterback Tyrod Taylor, knows that they have to put pressure on New York’s journeymen signal-caller if they are to do some damage.
One of the keys to success for the Colts here is the availability of TY Hilton, the explosive wide receiver who registered 88 yards in receptions in the opener. He also suffered a sprained knee, and has been listed as questionable for this one. The team is ready to use Dante Moncrief more extensively if Hilton can’t make post.
What was not impressive for Indianapolis was the lack of balance in their offense against Buffalo. Luck put the ball in the air 49 times, and of the Colts ran only 17 plays on the ground. Ideally, that has to change, and that is one of the reasons they picked up Gore, who had a string of 1000-yard seasons with the 49ers. Luck is one of the premier quarterbacks, so Vietbet patrons should not be surprised if he has much better form on Monday night. But also remember that the Jets are a little tougher in the secondary than they were last season, as they now have Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie back in the lineup.
