Cowboys vs Eagles – CJ’s Take:

Will Dallas choose to play this a little like an exhibition game, with the starters in the lineup for a while and then replaced by second-teamers who might need to get a little playing time before the post-season gets underway? Well, a lot of the controversy surrounding that has centered on quarterback Dak Prescott, who has had such a sensational season, including a 68% completion rate, 23 touchdown passes and only four interceptions. Will Prescott play the whole game? Or will Tony Romo, who be replaced in the pre-season, get some snaps? As of this writing, there has been speculation that Romo would be in active for this game, which would seem to indicate that the Cowboys are going to let him go during the off-season. But no definitive word has come down on that.

One would not expect that Ezekiel Elliott, a strong candidate for rookie of the year and MVP, would be risked for more wear and tear by head coach Jason Garrett. Elliott, who has 1631 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, has carried the ball 322 times.

There might be the question of momentum for the Cowboys to consider. Remember that for their two main offensive cogs, Prescott and Elliott, they are coming directly from an atmosphere (the collegiate ranks) where there were no “meaningless” games. So this becomes an interesting scenario. On defense, the Cowboys have become one of the NFL’s toughest teams to run on, giving up only 81.5 yards per game and 3.9 yards per carry. They are vulnerable through the air, and that, we imagine, is where the Eagles will try to attack them. Carson Wentz has had an up-and-down rookie season, all even on the touchdown-interception ratio (14-14), but Doug Pederson is still intensely interested in any and all experiences that will help him develop. This will be one of them. Philadelphia got off to a 3-0 start, including a 34-3 drubbing of the Pittsburgh Steelers going into their bye week, but they have gone 3-9 since. The last three games have shown some very honest effort, with narrow losses to the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens (the latter of which came when they failed on a two-point conversion in the game’s final moments), and then last week as they beat the New York Giants 24-19, causing some nervousness in the Giants’ camp about clinching a playoff spot.

VietBet patrons should know that the Philadelphia offensive line is stronger, now that right tackle Lane Johnson has come back from a 10-game suspension, administered because of performance-enhancing drugs. With him in the lineup, this team is 4-1. Of course, they’ve got Jason Peters on the other side, giving them a pair of tackles that are equal to anything in the league, including what Dallas puts on the field. The Cowboys, obviously, have cashed in on one of the best offensive line units in all of football, and right guard Zach Martin is going to have the principal assignment in dealing with the Eagles’ best pass rusher, as Fletcher Cox comes through the middle to apply a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks in Jim Schwartz’s defense.

On the season, Dallas is 13-2 straight-up and 10-4-1 against the football pointspread. Philadelphia, as mentioned, is 6-9 straight-up and 7-8 against the points.
