Chiefs vs Panthers November 13th, 2016 Week 10 NFL Betting PreviewWell, it looks as if the Kansas City Chiefs will be bringing back their first-string quarterback, and maybe that will perk up the offense a little. They have been thinned out with the injuries they have sustained. Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers have won two games in a row and believe, even with a 3-5 record, but they have a chance to win their fourth straight title in the NFC South. These teams will meet up at 1 PM ET at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. VietBet patrons have the chance, even after the game kicks off, to place their wagers, against dynamic football betting odds, in real time through the use of Live Betting Ultra.

Chiefs vs Panthers – CJ’s Take:

The Chiefs had to go with backup quarterback Nick Foles last week in place of Alex Smith, who sat out with a concussion, and the results were not good against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as Kansas City had only ten first downs on the entire afternoon. They also converted only one of their 14 third-down opportunities. There shouldn’t be any excuses for Foles, however, as he knows head coach Andy Reid’s system very well. But Spencer Ware, the top running back, was out of action (and is stil in concussion protocol), and Jamaal Charles, who has been struggling with injuries, is now on injured reserve. Charcandrick West, who had to pick up the rushing load, had only 39 yards on 13 carries. Nonetheless, they were able to come away with a 19-14 win, as they took advantage of three Jacksonville fumbles. The Chiefs are #1 in the league in turnover margin per game (1.6).

Very few people expected that Carolina would have as many problems as they did coming out of the starting gate. They lost five of their first six games, including the season opener, in which they lost a rematch with the Denver Broncos when they missed a late field goal. But the secondary has gone through some changes, and Cam Newton isn’t having quite the season he did last year. In fact, he is most known for bellyaching about the amount of punishment he is taking from opposing pass rushers.

There is no question about the fact that the Panthers missed Josh Norman, their All-Pro cornerback who left for the Washington Redskins in free agency. They have also lost other people back there, and the secondary, as expected, has suffered. In fact, they have used four different combinations at the corners, with rookies James Bradberry and Darryl Worley getting a lot of playing time. This defense has come on strong in the last two games, as the pass rush has made things a bit easier for the cover people, racking up 12 sacks.

The aforementioned Newton, who won the MVP award last year then faltered in the Super Bowl, has thrown only one interception in his last four starts, which is encouraging. But he better be careful if he’s going to throw in the direction of Marcus Peters, the second-year corner for Kansas City, who is tied for the lead in the NFL with five interceptions. And VietBet patrons know that Carolina is not forcing as many turnovers as it did last season, so it is doubly important that they take care of the football.

A couple of situations with injuries are definitely worth mentioning in this matchup. Michael Oher, who many casual fans know from his part as the subject in the motion picture “The Blind Side,” and who is one of the better offensive tackles in the league, has missed the last four games with a concussion. And there is the very real possibility that Justin Houston, the star linebacker for the Chiefs, who had ACL surgery in February, might be active for this game. He has been practicing with the team, and his presence, if he is anywhere near 100%, can be a difference-maker. He was quoted by reporters as saying that if he does indeed play, he “expects to dominate.”

Next up for both teams:

  • Kansas City home to Tampa Bay Sunday, November 20
  • Carolina home to New Orleans Thursday, November 17
