Since then, they have reeled off three conference wins, outscoring opponents by a margin of 106-31. The Bulldogs have suffered only two defeats this season, against Alabama and Washington, both ranked in the top 10 at the time.
Jeff Tedford, who spent many years at the University of California, has made an impression in his first season on the job in Fresno. Remember that the Bulldogs did not have a conference victory at all last season, stumbling to an overall record of 1-11. This season they are already 3-0 in Mountain West play, and a big reason for that is McMaryion, who is a graduate transfer from Oregon State. His intention was to play for the Beavers this season, but coach Gary Andersen made it known that he was going with Jeff Luton as the starter coming right out of spring practice. So McMaryion made the transfer and was able to play right away. Since he has been named the starter by Tedford, he’s completed 66% with seven touchdowns and only one interception. He is also able to stretch the field a lot better than the previous starter, Chason Virgil.
