Michigan vs Ohio State – CJ’s Take:

How big is this game? Well, it’s big every year, because it’s perhaps the most hated rivalry of them all. But this will have a very real impact on who could be appearing in the “Final Four,” otherwise known as the college football playoff. Ohio State is #2 in both major polls ()the Associated Press and Coaches’ poll), while Michigan is #3 in the AP and #4 with the Coaches. The most important thing is that in the football playoff rankings, which determines the four teams who will fight it out for the title, the Buckeyes are #2 and Wolverines #3.

And even for the winner, it doesn’t end, because there is a Big 10 title game against Wisconsin, which is sixth in the playoff rankings and wants a spot in the Final Four itself. And yes, there is a twist, because if Ohio State wins and Penn State does also, it will be the Nittany Lions meeting Wisconsin for the conference championship, meaning that OSU could just coast into the playoff.

The pre-game suspense here is provided by the speculation as to who is going to be the quarterback for the Maize and Blue. Wilton Speight, who has had very credible numbers in coach Jim Harbaugh’s system, with 62% accuracy and 15 TD’s with only four interceptions, sat out the last game against Indiana with a shoulder injury, but he has been practicing this week. Whether that could be a little gamesmanship or not isn’t known, as it has been reported by the Detroit Free Press that he has a broken collarbone, but if Speight can’t play here, Harbaugh will go with John O’Korn, a transfer from Houston who had a rather rough time of it against the Hoosiers, hitting just seven of his 16 passes.

VietBet patrons know that there is no such confusion as to who will be taking snaps for the Buckeyes – a situation that was, of course, not the case at the beginning of last year. JT Barrett is not only “the man” in Columbus, he is a genuine contender for the Heisman Trophy, with a tremendous ratio of 24 touchdowns to four INT’s and 722 rushing yards, which makes him an ideal trigger man for the Urban Meyer version of the spread option.

As far as the recent history of this series is concerned, Ohio State has owned it, with eleven victories in the last 12 meetings. However, all but one of those games came while Michigan was fumbling around with coaches who were NOT named Harbaugh. And not since Charles Woodson have the Wolverines had a more versatile performer than Jabrill Peppers, who has been a dominant defender – on the #1 defense in the country – and special teams player, while at the same time contributing on offense as well.
