Colts vs Texans on SNF October 16th, 2016 – Week 6 NFL Betting Preview

Colts vs Texans on SNF October 16th, 2016 Week 6 NFL Betting PreviewAdmittedly, the Indianapolis Colts have had an up-and-down season, but they were able to pull out a much-needed victory last week at home. And they did so despite not even having a bye week following a game in London. With a 2-3 record, they might be well behind in a couple of the division races, but not in the AFC South, which is generally weak. So they have an opportunity to tie for first place on Sunday, as they take on the Houston Texans in the NBC-televised game that takes place at 8:30 PM ET at NRG Stadium in Houston. It did not come easy for Indianapolis last week at Lucas Oil Stadium. They had to battle the Chicago Bears and the quarterback who was the starter for the Texans last season, Brian Hoyer, who had 397 yards through the air, which still was not enough as the Colts triumphed 29-23. Even so, the secondary is a big concern; this team has given up 70% completions and 300 yards a game, while making only one interception in the first five contests.

The Texans reached into their wallet and spent a lot of money to sign quarterback Brock Osweiler in the off-season. He had only seven NFL starts as a member of the Denver Broncos, replacing the injured Peyton Manning in the 2015 regular-season, and he is not exactly lighting it up this year. Osweiler is only 58% accurate, with six yards an attempt and seven interceptions. That is not even the extent of Houston’s worries. They are going to be without All-Pro defensive end JJ Watt for the rest of the season, although that does not mean they can’t get pressure on the quarterback.

Houston spent money on other offensive weapons, and this included wide receiver Will Fuller, a first-round draft choice out of Notre Dame. Fuller has been successful, with 327 receiving yards, which averages out to 16.4 yards per catch. He has also been a standout on the return team. And he has fulfilled a very important function, which is to give Houston another threat on the outside, aside from DeAndre Hopkins. Running back Lamar Miller was also an off-season acquisition, and he is a lot better than what they had back there before, even though his per-carry average isn’t all that outstanding (3.7). The fact is, opponents know that Houston will run the football, so they have to prepare for that. The disappointment is that the Texans are still waiting for their first rushing touchdown of the season.

VietBet patrons know that there could be opportunity here, as the Colts allow 4.6 yards per rushing attempt, and last week they allowed rookie Jordan Howard of the Bears to top 100 yards. This is just not a good defense, and Chuck Pagano has been feeling a little bit of heat because of it. There was a signal this week from general manager Ryan Grigson that he and Pagano are “on the same page,” which almost assuredly means that they are not.

Houston has lost its two road games by a combined score of 58-13, but they have won and covered in all three outings at home. That might mean something here. But one thing you can guarantee out of Indianapolis is that they aren’t going to stop punching until the final bell. Andrew Luck has 10 touchdown passes, although his offensive line has not protected him very well; the Colts have allowed 20 quarterback sacks in five games.
