Buccaneers vs 49ers October 23rd, 2016 – Week 7 NFL Betting Preview

Buccaneers vs 49ers October 23rd, 2016 Week 7 NFL Betting PreviewLast week San Francisco 49ers coach Chip Kelly handed the keys to his offense to Colin Kaepernick and let him run with them – literally. That part of the game didn’t work out too badly for the Niners, although Kaepernick, who had not really played until then, was rusty when it came to throwing the ball. Now that he’s had some more reps with the first team, he may be sharper as his club plays host to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game that is set to begin at 4:05 PM ET at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. VietBet customers can watch the game as it is televised regionally on Fox, and place wagers even after the opening kickoff as they follow what is available through Live Betting Ultra.

Buccaneers vs 49ers – CJ’s Take:

Kaepernick, of course, has been the center of controversy ever since the pre-season, and everyone knows why. But what has been happening with his contract has brought some of the most intrigue. His deal had carried with it a lot of guaranteed money, and the Niners wanted to change that, so they have re-negotiated a one-year deal with a player option that also gives the club some “injury protection.” Then, and only then, was he announced as the starter, replacing the largely ineffective Blaine Gabbert.

And against the Buffalo Bills he completed just 13 of his 29 passes, although he did compile 68 yards rushing. He would appear to be the most effective guy to run Kelly’s offense, because he has the ability to run with the football. On Sunday he’ll be going against a secondary that has permitted opposing QB’s to throw for 8.3 yards an attempt, with a a defensive line that has registered only nine sacks.

One of the things Kaepernick continues to struggle with is dealing with a pass rush. And his offensive line is not the same as it was when he was leading this team to a Super Bowl berth. He has a tendency to get “happy feet,” and that isn’t always a bad thing, if you can turn potential sacks into gains. But if it forces you into bad decisions, it is, of course, a negative.

The big problem for the Niners up in Buffalo was that they could not stop the run, allowing Shady McCoy to run wild for 140 of the Bills’ 312 rushing yards. Now the Bucs, coming off the bye week, have had a chance to study the films of the opposing quarterback AND get their top running back a little healthier, as they anticipate the return of All-Pro Doug Martin after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury.

The Bucs beat Carolina last time out, and guess what? Jameis Winston did not commit a turnover. In the Tampa-St. Pete area, that’s Movietone News. Winston, the former Heisman Trophy winner, has tossed eight interceptions and lost a couple of fumbles thus far. And he is also only 58.5% accurate, although he does throw it down the field more often than most. The Bucs spent a second-round draft pick on kicker Roberto Aguayo, who has missed four of his eight attempts. Can you imagine what kind of problems he could potentially have on the soft, strange turf of Levi’s Stadium?

Next Up for both teams:

  • Tampa Bay home to Oakland Sunday, October 30
  • San Francisco home to New Orleans Sunday, November 6
