Browns Texans Odds – Week 6 NFL Betting Preview

Yes, things have been rough for Kizer, who is a pretty good competitor but clearly a little over his head at the moment. The second-round draft pick out of Notre Dame, who was considered a possible “quarterback of the future,” was benched at halftime of last week’s defeat at the hands of the New York Jets. This doesn’t necessarily mean that he has been replaced on a “permanent” basis, as Jackson says that he has “a huge future here.” But he is last in the league in Total Quarterback Rating, and Hogan didn’t do too badly in his place. In fact, he led two touchdown drives which made the score close.

The Texans have had more success with their rookie quarterback. Deshaun Watson, who was available to them as a result of a trade with Cleveland, has led this team, which scored only 20 points in the first two games, to 124 points over the last three contests. He’s got 12 touchdown passes already, and has averaged a little over eight yards per carry. So he is bringing a new dimension to the offense; one that was not available under Tom Savage.

DeAndre Hopkins, who got off to a slow start, now has 36 receptions and is Watson’s favorite target. The injection of Will Fuller into the lineup has also made a difference; he has caught a pair of touchdowns in each of the last two weeks, and believe it or not, the Texans are in the top five in the league in rushing. So everything is looking up at the moment, except on the injury front. JJ Watt and Whitney Mercilus have both suffered season-ending injuries, and that makes a big difference. So this team won’t be as fearsome when it comes to rushing the passer.

The Browns certainly hope to be more dangerous in that regard as they continue forward with Myles Garrett, who was the #1 pick in the draft. Garrett finally made his pro debut last week and came up with two sacks in the 17-14 loss to the Jets. So at least Cleveland has a chance to be very happy with THAT draft selection.

VietBet patrons know that despite Cleveland’s 0-5 record, and 1-4 point spread record, they have lost four of their five games by four points or less. So in a way, they’re getting closer to being competitive. They just don’t seem to have all the personnel in place yet. Duke Johnson is the best receiver they’ve got, and that was not really the plan. Isaiah Crowell is averaging only 3.1 yards per carry. They hope that Hogan can put a little spark into the offense. He is 68% accurate with three touchdown passes and almost 10 yards per attempt. That’s one thing they didn’t get from Kizer – the ability to stretch the field. They didn’t get that from Cody Kessler last year either. Right now you have to believe that, despite with Jackson has said, they’ve got to be rethinking what they are going to do in the next draft. The bottom line is, they might not be able to trade points with the Texans, who are going full blast with their new quarterback, but maybe this translates to an “over” on the total.
