2018 Green Bay Packers Odds – NFC North Betting Preview

2018 Green Bay Packers Odds NFC North Betting PreviewThe Green Bay Packers obviously suffered through a rough season last year, because they played a great deal of it without quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Well, now he’s expected to come back from his injury. But will that make all the difference in the world? Remembering that this is a division that has both the Minnesota Vikings, who were 13-3 last season, and the Detroit Lions, how difficult will it be to make some headway in the NFC North? That is a question VietBet customers have to have on their minds.

Rodgers is now 34 years old, and is coming out of a season where he had 16 touchdown passes and 1675 yards. But this team crumbled for the most part when he went down with his collarbone injury. The 6-10 record kept Green Bay out of the playoffs for the first time since 2008.

2018 Green Bay Packers Odds – NFC North Betting Preview:

In the NFL futures odds that have been posted on the Packers by the people at VietBet, they are +160 to win the NFC North, +600 to capture the NFC championship, and +1300 to win the Super Bowl. These appear to be pretty short odds, indicating a lot of faith in the return of Rodgers.

There is no question that Rodgers was unhappy that the team got rid of Jordy Nelson, who had become his favorite receiver. Nelson, who averaged just 9.1 yards per reception, is now with the Oakland Raiders. But Rodgers should easily find a way to incorporate Jimmy Graham into the mix. Graham found a lot of magic with Drew Brees in New Orleans, but never really have a lot of chemistry with Russell Wilson in Seattle. We have seen him at his best, however, and he has the ability to be one of the elite tight ends in the business. He is the major addition to the offense. DeShone Kizer, the second-round draft pick who kind of washed out in Cleveland, came in a trade and will fight it out with Brett Hundley for the backup quarterback spot.

Green Bay went through a little bit of upheaval in the secondary. Gone is half of the defensive backfield, as Morgan Burnett went to Pittsburgh and Demarious Randall was traded to Cleveland. Green Bay added a veteran presence in Tramon Williams, the 12th-year man who played for Arizona last year, and they took defensive backs with their first two draft selections, snagging Jaire-Alexander of Louisville in the first round and Josh Jackson of Iowa in the second. Oren Burks of Vanderbilt, a linebacker, was the third-round selection, but he isn’t very high on the depth chart.

Muhammad Wilkerson, who had been released by the New York Jets, was signed as a free agent, where there is not a lot of downside. Wilkerson had previously worked under Mike Pettine, who is taking over as Green Bay’s defensive coordinator after the departure of Dom Capers, and even though he was considered somewhat of a disruptive presence in New York, there might be a big payoff with him if the Packers can get him to perform at his previous levels. In fact, it could change the whole character of the defensive line.

While it is true that Rodgers will miss Nelson, the truth is that Davante Adams had emerged as the top receiver, with 885 yards and ten touchdowns. This may not be as deep a group as they’ve had in the past, but they are hoping that someone from the draft, like J’Mon Moore of Missouri or Equanimious St. Brown from Notre Dame, might be able to provide some surprises. To simplify things, they will go as far as Rodgers takes them.
